Import your staff

Import tab → Import staff list (CSV or Excel)

Bring a simple name list from Excel or CSV — a Name column (Staff or Employee works too) plus an optional Email column. Every other column in the file is ignored: BarRosta never stores pay rates, dates of birth, home addresses, tax file numbers, bank details or ID documents. You preview exactly who will be created — duplicates are skipped — and nothing is saved until you confirm.

Import an existing roster

Import tab → Import roster (CSV or Excel)

Works with the roster spreadsheet you already keep — a grid (staff down the side, days across the top) or a flat list with Staff, Day, Start, End columns. Multi-sheet workbooks are supported; you choose the sheet. Pick the venue, match spreadsheet names to your staff — unmatched names are held, and can be created on the spot — then preview and confirm. It becomes your repeating weekly template. The file never leaves your browser, and pay columns are ignored, never stored.

Payroll export — hours only, never pay data

Approved worked hours are automatically classified into ordinary, evening, Saturday, Sunday, public-holiday and overtime buckets, and mapped to the pay items already set up in your own payroll system:

  • MYOB AccountRight — ready-to-import timesheet file (matched by MYOB Card ID)
  • MYOB Business (Essentials) — ready-to-import timesheet file (matched by MYOB Card ID)
  • Xero Payroll (AU) — payroll-ready export file

Also in the Export tab: a roster planning CSV, a timesheet summary CSV, and per-staff calendar (.ics) files. No export ever contains pay rates, wages or money — your payroll system decides what the hours are worth.

BarRosta is not payroll — on purpose

BarRosta rosters staff, tracks worked hours, and produces export files in ready-to-import MYOB timesheet files and payroll-ready Xero export files. It does not connect to your payroll system, does not pay your staff, does not set or store wages or pay rates, and never handles payroll money.

Your payroll system decides what hours are worth. Ours just makes sure it gets the right hours.
